Upcoming Classes
Included below is a listing of upcoming classes and locations.  Please contact us directly for registration information or to start programs at your organization. 
 


Animation 101
Have you ever wanted to create your own animated movies?  In this class children ages 6 to 14 will learn the basic concepts of animation.  They will work to create several of their own short animated movies. Using stop motion photography they will learn the basics behind Kineographs, Claymation, and Character Animation.  This is a very fun interactive class that everyone loves.

Classes run 11/2-11/16 at the Anthem Community Center on Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Typing 101
Children ages 8 to 14 will spend this class learning how to truly type instead of the old 'hunt and peck' method.  They will use several commercially available typing games to reinforce the concepts behind typing including proper finger placement, posture, keyboard layout, and more.  Contests will be held weekly to help make this class a fun and exciting way to learn this essential life long skill.

Classes run 12/1-12/15 at the Anthem Community Center on Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Smart Starts for Special Kids
Smarts Starts LLC in conjunction with the Anthem Community Center is proud to begin programs specifically designed for children in our community with special needs.  These programs will be instructed by a certified teacher in special education and will provide a safe environment for children with special needs.  Class structure will include exercise fun, crafts, and computer time.  These classes are specifically designed, so that these children have a special class to attend as well, and are for children with learning levels from Pre-K through 3rd grade.   Enrollment is limited to six students at time.  Each class will have a certified special education instructor and an assistant.  The cost for each class will be $45.00.  Go to the Anthem Community Center to register for these programs.  For more information on this program email us at ehall@smartstartsllc.com.

Pilot program classes will run on December 9th from 9:00 to 11:00. Regular scheduled classes will start in January and will be available at the Anthem Community Center every other Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 am. 

Smart Starts Juniors
Monthly computer classes emphasize the proper use of the mouse through eye-hand coordination and visual discrimination. Additionally, the children will learn the basic parts of the computer (mouse, monitor, keyboard, etc.) through song and demonstration.  Children will work on individual laptops and utilize the latest in education software to reinforce preschool concepts like; numbers, colors, shapes, letters, pre-reading, math, and more

Classes are available at the Anthem Community Center on Mondays from 9:30 - 10:30, 10:30 to 11:30 and 1:15 to 2:15 pm. Classes are also offered at Creative Castle Preschool on Tuesdays from 12:00 to 12:30 and 12:30 to 1:00 pm and Fridays from 12:00 to 12:30 and 12:30 to 1:00 pm. 

Web Design
Students ages 9 to 16 are introduced to developing effective and creative web sites.  They will learn the basics of HTML programming and learn what should be included in order to create an effective web site.  They will work using Microsoft Frontpage and will burn the web site they create onto CD-Rom for them to take home. 

Classes available at the Anthem Community Center in January on Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Wacky Techno-Science
Children ages 6 to 12 will explore our world using digital microscopes, computers and more as they apply science and technology together.  They will learn the basic principles of biology, physics, weather, chemistry and cryptography with hands-on experiments and projects.  This is a very interactive class that everyone loves. 

Classes available at the Anthem Community Center in February on Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Digital Media
Children ages 6 to 16 will learn how to use two forms of digital media; cameras and camcorders.  They will learn how to use digital cameras to take and edit pictues.  They will then create their own slide show with these pictures adding special effects and background music.  Additionally, they will also learn the basics of using a camcorder to film their own advertisement.  They will learn the basic concepts of putting an advertisement together and the critical elements necessary to create an effective commercial.  All work will be burned to a CD-Rom to take home at the end of the class.

Using the Digital Blue Movie Maker Cameras children learn the basics of stop motion animation and movie making.
